Plodding along

Yesterday I resorted to running on my treadmill. Yep I have one but very rarely use it. It is a commercial life fitness treadmill – I bought it when we were in London as the dark & cold over there made it tough to get out during winter and back then I loved running on the treadmill. But I now have Millie, my 4 year old female boxer – she is more than happy to run twice a day with me. In fact she expects to run with me every morning and she expects either a walk or run in the afternoon. She is pretty hard to say no to except if it is raining. Yesterday morning it was POURING and so I dusted off the treadmill and clocked up 9km before work.

This morning it was not raining (fortunately) so out the door we go at 6am and run in the dark, the sun comes up just as I go past the harbor but it was too cloudy to bother stopping and taking a photo – I know last week I did promise I would take a photo to share here… patience, I have not forgotten.

I got home from work and as usual Millie greets me with great enthusiasm and then waits patiently for me to go get changed. Today was her lucky day, I decided to run what I call the Sebel Loop which is just over 10km. So all up today we clocked up 17km, you could say the marathon training is coming along nicely but the problem the 17km is split in to two runs and I really need to be clocking  up mileage in one run but that is what the weekends are for. As it is I set out in the morning in the dark and tonight I set out at 4:45pm and by the time I got home from the Sebel loop it was dark.

Tomorrow I run with the Cross-country boys. Those are my speed sessions. We clock up over 8km but they run really quick so I have to run as fast as I possibly can for the whole run so I don’t fall to far behind!

I’ve also started listening to some more podcasts about positive thinking… I’m really loving the running and podcast listening!
