Thank you for your support

Thank you to my lovely supporters who took the time to comment on my last post. I appreciate your comments and support!

Well I am seeing wee little losses :-)  I really have no problem keeping away from wheat but I need to make a bigger effort to avoid sugar. I have been making my own yoghurt and I quite like eating it with oatbran mixed in but it is a bit tart so I add natvia which is a sweetener. My question (and I think I know the answer) is does using these artificial sweeteners  spike your insulin levels?  I believe you do get the first spike of insulin that your body gives you in anticipation of eating something sweet but then you don’t get the second spike as it is not glucose in your blood stream.

What is the general perception out there? I know people believe that sweeteners cause cancer and should generally be avoided but this is my biggest hurdle at the moment, giving up all the sweet tastes that I adore. Some sweeteners really don’t agree with me and I get a bit of umm…. wind. But I have found this one has no after taste and not too dissimilar to sugar.

This weekend I am off to our bach at the beach with a few girlfriends. I will drink a few glasses of wine and I have plenty of protein supplies: eggs, bacon, salmon and cheese and stuffed peppers with feta. I am taking Millie (our boxer dog) as hubby is off on a boys trip. Millie is a pain in the butt at the bach, she wakes up early and wants to go running on the beach. She loves going there but I hate the EARLY wake up – well at least I know I will exercise!!  I have the running shoes packed and the iPod is charged just the 5am (or earlier) waking up is a pain as I really would like bit of a sleep in!

I use Stevia sometimes. I don’t mind it at all. As for insulin spikes, rather uneducated on that so can’t comment.
I would love to wake up and go for a walk on the beach with the dogs… I am sure you will enjoy it too… once you can drag yourself out of bed. *smiles*

I use Splenda, I put it in my yogurt so I’ll eat it (with my flaxseed) and I don’t notice insulin spikes. I managed to lose 111 pounds using Splenda everyday :D LOL
How is the move to your new town going and I’m jonesing for a Millie update!!

Well that is all the evidence I need that I can still use splenda – thanks Sandi

Hi there, new to reading your blog, new to the dukan diet! I have been using Splenda during my first week, daily, and haven’t noticed any problems with it! Good luck!
